To get extreme bright and durable features you need to buy a good tactical flashlight https://theeffectiveguide.com/best-tactical-flashlight/ like these types. But, I like most Fenix and Klarus flashlight. Both have great features and those are compact and extremely durable too.

It all depends on how much you want to pay. First, if price is not an option buy a Surefire, the L4 Lumimax, E2L Outdoorsman and the LED Defender are all excellent, but are pricey. If you perfer to save some money, look at the Streamlight Scorpion C4 LED. Also think about how often you plan on using it. If you use it often (more than 30 to 60 min/night) consider a Streamlight Stinger C4 Rechargable. It may be a little bigger and heavier, but its very bright and saves a lot on batteries.

......or.....try the Pak-Lite. This is a cool little LED that simply sits on top of a 9-volt battery- lots of power, light, red/white lens color, etc.

Mini mags are awesome if you want something that is cheap, reliable, and you wont feel like kicking yourself if you loose it. I got a Sure Fire while I was in Iraq and it took a severe beating and still works great....but very pricey for a flashlight.

LED mini Maglite, The Energizer $5.00 LED Hat Clip Lamp, and Jeep Brand LED Flashlight are all good. I like the Mini Mag due to it fits in a shirt pocket, lightweight, and durable. I dropped mine 5 stories into concrete and pavement and other than scuff marks in the finish, still was lit when I picked it up an hour after the drop off the roof.
