We have a Horton Hunter crossbow made in the mid 90's that has a Simmons 4x32 crossbow scope attached. The scope has fixed crosshairs for 20,30 and 40 yds. The crossbow has a dial adjustment on the side of the stock that changes the elevation of the scope rail. The crossbow has been shooting dead on at 20, 30 and 40 yds for years. Recently we shot it and was dead on at 20 yds but about 6" off for both 30 and 40. If we adjust the scope to shoot dead on at 30 its accurate at 40 yds but it off 6" at 20. If we adjust the dial on the stock we get same result, when 20 is on, 30 and 40 are off. The dial adjustment on the stock changes the accuracy the 6 inch diff between the 20 and 30 yd crosshairs. We're using the same bolts so that not an issue... Any ideas as to what the problem might be? Thanks

Just a WAG, your cables may have stretched and you have lost velocity(pounds) so it no longer is in sync with the scope distance marks. Have a shop measure the current pounds and see if that is what it is suppose to be. I have heard some say cables and string should be changed every few years because they stretch, depending on age and usage.

          The scope has multiple crosshairs.

They may or may not correlate to fixed 10 yard increments.
Crossbow bolts can vary by model/brand......in fletch, tip weight and overall shaft weight.....so the crosshairs are not yardage specific.

Most folks zero the top one for 20 yards and then test to see what they others end up being.

If yours was shown to be 10 yard increments, and using the same bolts......and now is off, yup.........like the others have said.........check string/cables. They might just need twisted up to bring the bow back into spec (not need replaced).

Maybe something has happened to the stock adjustment - wear, dirt, etc.
                    Otherwise it's a mystery.
