Hey I have heard some good reviews of Thermacell. However, I haven't heard too much mentioned on the repellent refill and how long they last. I read on the thermacell site that they're rated to last 12 hours, and a mat up to 4 hours. Is this true? Also, if anyone uses it often is it costly? It sounds a little costly to me from a brief review.

That is just about right. I find them very economical to use. If you want to save a little on the butane you can purchase the butane cylinders for women's hair curlers at Wally World. They are the same size but hold more fuel or should I say filled with more gas!

I use mine for archery hunting and it is amazing at how well it works. I usually find that the bugs stay away for around 1 hour after the pad is used up. They are good for around 5 hours I find.

I just bought one yesterday and plan on using it this fall. The $5 rebate from FieldandStream.com does not hurt either!! I found the website in one of the earlier issues but I cannot seem to find it again. Luckily I had printed a rebate form when I first saw it.

The butane cell matches up just about perfect with three of the repellent mats for me.

I sure like mine. I loaded up on refills when they were marked down last spring. I think I paid 2.00 per refill package. You can call me the clearance King!!!lol

I take a freezer baggie and put my pad in it when I'm done hunting and can usually get two or three outings with it. It definitely works, but I'm not so sure about the lack of scent. A new pad puts out a fog which I've watched sink to the ground from a tree stand on a no wind, heavy air day.
