My surf fishing rig is a Penn 7500 mated with a 12' Diawa Sealine X. The thing throws out line like nobody's business. As for inland, I have the same reel but pair it to a 9' Ugly Stik.

You can't go wrong with a Penn. I use a Penn Power Graph 7000 w/ my 10' surf pole that I reserve for large stripers, a Penn Captiva 6000 for my every day 8' surf rod, and a Penn Captiva with a lighter 7-1/2' surf rod. I get better casting distance from the Power Graph 7000 than the Captiva, even when I put it on my 8' stick.

The Shimano baitrunner spinning reels work great for stripers.

Something in the Penn line. Does "Ugly Stick" make a salt-water reel? Hope this helps some.

I would like to add a spinning saltwater reel for all around use from beach fishing to inland saltwater fishing. Any suggestions? Add a rod to match with the reel if you can and maybe a rod/reel combo... Thank you.
