If you could choose one rifle, what would it be? I'm also looking to get a good shotgun for beginners.

AS far as the rifle goes I would check out the article on the winchester model 70. For a shotgun i would get a remmington 870 express, a friend of mine just bought one and it is his first. it shot great right out of the box and seems to be a great gun. it is fairly inexpense but is a great gun for the price

are you asking about caliber or model?

caliber-wise, the 30.06 has killed more things than smallpox, from grizzly to pronghorn and everything in between...

Tikka T3 or Remington 700 for a rifle, Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 for a shotgun.

Hands down .30-06! Not my favorite but for selection of cartridges and diversity of game as well as ease of finding ammo it has to be the .30-06 I guess winchester model 7.

My rifle is a Weatherby Vanguard .270 WSM. I was just curious what else was out there. Thanks!

If I could only have 2 guns:

Ruger M77 Hawkeye Left hand in 30/06

Remington 870 12ga shotgun with 26 inch barrel.

                        I would go with a 30-06

I’ve helped countless of shooters and I have found the Remington 700 is the most reliable and most accurate rifle out of the box. If you’re going for Elk, I would pick the 30-06 and if Monster Mule Deer is the largest on your ticket, the 25-06 is the bet for those extreme shots and easy to find at any Wal-Mart etc and a bet lighter on the wallet too!

                          O'Ya,

Remington 870 12ga shotgun with 26 inch barrel
