I carry an old Schrade single blade Old Timer for a skinning knife. It gets razor sharp and holds it edge for several deer skinnings. I haven't found another that does that well so I still use it all the time.

I use a fixed blade Buck for field dressing.

Uncle Henry, and a Victrinox my dad gave me when I was about 5 yrs. old. Still have it and now that my son is old enough, I gave it to him to pass on to his kids. Also, had a Old Timer that was a great knife, but it now resides at the bottom of Fletchers Floodwaters (northern Michigan). Note to self, "Don't ever put a pocket knife in your shirt pocket while fishing in a boat".

I've had a number of Boker brand knives $20-$120. Automatic, Traditional Multi Tool from steel, ceramic to Damascus. All very good fit and finish.

About a year ago I bought a Gerber EVO tanto bladed folder for around $16 from Wal Mart. While it doesn't have the travel miles or work load of some of the blades mentioned, it is a very fine, compact, and light knife that was basically an impulse buy.

I currently carry a small Case lock-back pocket knife with a 2 1/2" blade and stag scales. For many years, I carried a two-blade folder, but noticed a long time ago that I never used the spey blade, as I have no livestock in need of castration. The single blade lock-back is also lighter and flatter in profile.
I remember carrying my Boy Scout knife to school dangling from my belt for all to see.
