I have a perfect stacked leather handle drop point 4.5" that dates to earl 1930s. Almost exactly like my dad's but his had finger grooves in handle. It's a wonderful knife, great balance and feel, and keeps a blade well. Not stainless so care has to be used storing it dry and oiled or it will get pitted.

Like most of us, i have a collection of knives, I do not have a Ka-Bar, one of my buddies has one and loves it, I have a knife of similar design, very hard steel holds a nice edge, and is very heavy, I have used it to split wood. I can not remember where I got it, sometime in the early to mid 70's.

Most people think Ka-bar only made military knives. Nope! Everything from folding knives to fillet style. Like just about everyone else, they make junk (stainless stuff from Japan) and something better if you want to pay for it. Their leather stacked handle knives made today are junk in my opinion.
