I use a rattle bag sometimes for deer. I've used distress calls on coyotes. ALWAYS i use my slate call for turkeys. I love calling turkeys in, it makes you feel great when you call a turkey in and shoot it all by yourself. I've always wanted to play with a crow call, or any of the many location calls.

Best all-around call to carry would be a simple mouth-reed (diaphragm) call. You could learn to bugle like an bull elk, mew like a cow elk; bleat like a fawn; howl like a coyote; cut, cluck, yelp, purr like hen or even gobble, purr or put like a tom!

I use mouth calls and box calls for when I go turkey hunting, and when I go deer hunting I use a grunt call, and when predator hunting I use turkey mouth calls.

Depends on the season and the quarry. I always have a predator distress call with me though. No matter what time of year, it is always coyote season.
