Who cares about the trout. Save the Muskie fishing for fall now. All the cold water fish being caught now can have a chance of being killed. Catch them fast and release even faster. Don't even take them out of the water.

Jim that’s a good post and tip, a lot of young people who are new to the sport don’t understand that higher water temps and depleted oxygen levels stress and kill fhese cold water fish. There is a stream in North Central Pennsylvania that flows into the Pine Creek called cedar run that has thousands of trout stacked up this time of the year. Thankfully it is controlled by a club and protected. Good post

Solitario, If the fish are holding in a deep, cool pool and you pull from it the fish will scatter and it increases their stress. Don't disturb them in any way and they may survive to swim another day.
Musky are fun to catch but they are not the only fish in the water.

To bowhunter for the most part I feel bad for the trout. Some of the places they stock they can't even survive. Some make their way out of the creeks to the rivers but I think they just get eaten by the big fish. For the brown and rainbow trout that they stock should be put and take to where they can't live. As for jhjimbo I could say the same thing there's just not trout in the waters that can die in the hot weather. Musky are more sensitive than trout and I'm just pointing it out like you are with the trout.

If Virginia had followed through with their anti gun legislation you would have seen the start of the 2nd civil war in the US.
