    I've had good luck in Michigan with wooly buggers. You can try a green or black wooly bugger, and then tie on a dropper. I'm also a fan of checking in with the local fly shop to see what's working well just before you go to the river.

      well remember fish dont have great eyesite and the sense things by smell and vibration so if u use rubber bait you have to get it to get the motion of a real fish and with minnows or worms it will be easier
