I have caught a few in lakes by soaking cured salmon roe in the deepest holes of the lake or casting small spinners over drop-offs. I have tried flies on occassion, but with minimal success.
In the rivers, i have used small Mepps spinners, white tube jigs, and whatever flies the trout in the area are eating. As far as technique, I don't fish them any differnt than I do rainbows, be it in lakes or rivers. My best success on the rivers has come from fishing egg patterns and flesh flies in the fall, but I suppose this really wouldn't work on lakes.
According to The Highway Angeler by Gunnar Pederson, pursue the landlocked variety by fising "spoons, spinners, flies and bait" mid-may to mid-june and mid-august to late-january (in Alaska). Concentrate on lake inlets and outlets, submerged structures and steep drop offs.
I appologize that this all sounds a little generic, but they just act like trout in my experience.
