Your best fishing would probably be from a pier such as the one at Gulf Shores. There was a good pier at Dauphin Island, but it has become sanded in from recent storms. Just Google Gulf State Park Pier.

Santa beat me to it. Your #1 source of info is WWW.gulfshorespierfishing.com ---You will find a wealth of information and up to the minute reports from people who are actually fishing on the pier. Maybe not exactly up to the minute, but as soon as they get home to the computer. Tackle, rigs, bait, techniques, best times, etc., are all covered---remember the search function is your friend before you start asking basic questions that have been answered dozens of times. See you out there.

Bait- Live shrimp. Just about everythingin saltwater will eat a shrimp. Try the bay area for specks, reds, and maybe a few flounder.

Jim, there's no way that would be allowed on a modern construction site. Those holes were a potential death trap without something shoring up the sides....
