I flatten my barbs and sometimes fish with dull hooks. No problems. Just keep the tip up and the line tight.

Cooner has it for the hook sharpness test. You are also using very small hooks that will not penetrate well. You might try going to bigger hooks with a wider opening. Two main reasons for lost fish... dull hooks or too small a hook opening to grab flesh and bone.

Try sharpening the hook and check to make sure the barb is still good. Also keep the line tip up and keep plenty of tension. make sure also to get the hook set good.

Check the Hooks as cooner said, make shure to keep tension on the line when landing a fish, and set the hook hard.

check the hooks on your jigs to make sure they are not dull .
(try sliding the point of your hook down your thumb nail with slight pressure it should grab or bite in and not slide easily or at all )
sharpen them if they need be . and keep tension on your line ( rod tip up ) the fish is able to push off the bottom of the shore when it flops creating slack in your line .with your rod up try to slide the fish towards your hand or net to control the fish as quickly as you can
