Which is better to gather catfish bait. A seine or a castnet? Why?

    It depends on where you are getting bait and what type you are targeting.

    Shallow areas you can wade in with smaller fish, insects, and frogs are good areas for seines, but cast nets can also work there if there is enough room to throw them and the bait is large enough not to slip through the mesh.

    I find cast nets to be more versatile than seines. Cast nets work great for baitfish pretty much anywhere they can be thrown, and I've also used them to catch crawdads. They do not work well for frogs or polywogs however.
