They have plenty of websites on how to, but at 'DIY' way that I know of is pretty simple. Pick out an area of your propertey,[I know you said its a dry state, but try to find a mouisture area] Then depending on dogs and other animals fence it off the best way you can...[Not really like fence but just a way to keep them out] I've just put and old cabinet with the doors out of it and layed it down[open side down] and every week put your garbage, disposable only and just wait. A dry state might take awhile but here in FL thats how we do it.
