I had a very large farm when I had the backyard room. when I moved into an apartment, I used a plastic flower/tree pot purchased from Walmart. I put a fake set of flowers in the pot and placed it on my patio and no one complained. Very few folks new I had worms in the pot. Now back in a house I an old camping cooler in my garage. I filled the cooler with clean soil, shredded newspaper. I feed the worms once a week or so with Non Meat left overs from the kitchen. When I started, I just got the worms from Parking lots (mostly from banks)during/after rains. I would also buy some from stores to fish with and the remainders I would just add to the farm. I would place the worms on top of the paper and the health ones would dig down, after 24 hours, any worm still on the top was "recycled" Added water when needed and had a drain hole covered with mesh so the worms could not get out.

I live in a warm state as well and recently started a worm farm, I used a good supply of leaves and good field dirt to get started. I used some shredded newspaper for a base and make sure to keep enough moisture to keep them good and healthy.

I also feed my worm corn meal for added nutrients.

I use an old 12 person hotub that is burried in the ground up to the rim of the hot tub with a wire mesh roof to prevent animals from stealing the bait.
