      yea just im not shure but it might eat at the fishing line but it will work

        I wash my reels off and then flush with WD40 after each time I fish salt water. I have not lost any fish from line damage due to WD40, but it does soften it up and makes it cast better, (mono only). WD40 is basicly a highly refined mineral spirits and does not have very much lubricating quality, therefore, you need to oil well after a good wash down.

          my grandpa always put wd40 on his worms while fishing. it worked too, right away fish would attack the worm. i dont think they mind it, at least in wisconsin

            For lubrication purposes, WD40 is not the best choice. Commercial reel lubricants such as Quantam "Hot Sauce" do a much better job. Personally, I use Mobil 1 10-W5 on both my guns and reels. It is cheap (per ounce) and does a fantastic job.
