    Hard to answer. Hooks are the biggest expense. But of course you have to also have all the fly tying material like furs, chenille, hackle, bead heads, tying thread, vise, tools ect. You spend a near lifetime accumulating all the trappings. Also can't forget the labor time tying.       Tying flies is fun, and catching fish on your own patterns is a blast, but the start-up costs can be prohibitive.

        If you tie them yourself somewhere around 25 cents for a fly.
