Without, I can always add lead shot to the leader to get it down where I need it.

I will ditto hi_tail and add in heavily fished waters often a trout will not take a BH.

i like beadheads since i don't need to add weight, they are also good for quickwater around here

Ok, there is a time to select/fish either. I've fished from mighty rivers to calm springs, had my eye on one particular fish in a creek to fishing stockies my the dozen. The benefit to BH are great; flash additive, convenience of not having to tie on then pinch on shot, and perhaps a slight edge on durability. I find the benefits on non BH greater. They allow me to fish nymphs unweighted, even floated as emergers, they allow me to add as much weight as necessary to fish the depths I require, and give more action to the fly in the water. I've caught more stockies on BH and more natives on non BH. Don't hesitate to experiment. Hope this helps!

I would much rather see the bed head, that would tell me that she would rather fish than do her hair.
