If you don't throw out a whole worm. Let it sit then wind in five feet then stop do it again until you feel something pick it up more than likely it's some kind of panfish. Once you feel them you found them. As for catfish I found that catfish love to bite in muddy or lightly stained waters. Night crawlers work great or also you can catch your bluegill and take and cut them up and use chunks of meat. If you don't want to go that way for bait, you can use hotdogs, shrimp, chicken livers, and big minnows.
    Thanks!!! i will try that.

When off the beds and in deeper water they are harder to locate and a good fish locator is more necessary. When spawning they will hit about anything that is near their beds, worms, wet flies, small spinners. There is exciting fishing at this time of year for gills. Good luck !

    Help catching catfish and bluegill?

Our closest lake have catfish and bluegill. This might sound funny but it is quite difficult to catch bluegill there. Also they have some channel catfish. We will be renting a boat. Is there any good spots in most lakes to catch catfish? Also where are good spots for panfish? Thanks in advance!!
