  • Strike verses catch ratio

Fishing for bass with soft plastics what would be a good strike to catch ratio. Today i caught 3 bass, felt that I had 4 good hits that I missed.

    HA!!!!!!

We used to laugh that most bass fishermen felt two taps.
The first tap was when the bass picked up the bait.
The second tap was your buddy slapping you on the back of the head saying, "You missed him, dummy!"

    "strike:catch" ratio?
    That's a tough one randy?
How many of those "taps" or "strikes" were your lure bumping some submerged structure?
How many "soft" pick-ups did you have you never felt?

    Besides, a "strike" doesn't "count"!
    Hook ups do!
I wouldn't worry about stuff like that. Just go fishing and enjoy being on the water.
....and "Yes!", a "strike" gets me going too! 😉

BTW.... what size were your 3 catches?

I'd have to guess about 50-50 with soft plastics. They may grab the tail and make a run for it or I may fail to set the hook fast enough or well enough quite often.
