    They aren't really rare there just a non common hybrid. there some fishiers thta have alot of tiger trout!

      Yea people catch them, they are a beautiful fish.

        Tiger trout are a hybrid, that often occur in stocked waters. If there is a large stocking program where you were fishing, then it is definitely possible that they are common, but none the less, a very impressive catch at 17 inches. Catch and release or catch and eat?

          Always release,dont eat much freshwater fish,alot of talk about high levels of mercury here in mass.
