Most fish are more than willing to cannibalize their young. Pike and pickerel are especially prone to eating their own kind, but on the other hand, they are prone to eating anything and everything they can fit their mouth around, and even some things they can't.

i have used that same bait except it was crappie and sunfsh. the first time i used the sunfish i caught 5 bass and a sunfish. when i used the crappie i caught a crappie.hope that answers your question.
