Guys, check out this ice fishing video. The guy has a 40 inch tiger muskie on the line with a small hole in the ice. Keep the sound volume down if your with you kids. The happy fisherman does say the "F" word a few times. Great video, I love seeing that video shots of the tiger muskie swimming under the ice.

Matt, this link below has photos that show the difference between a northern pike and a chain pickerel. I think a Tiger Muskie is a cross between a Northern Pike and a Muskellunge?

Northern pike, musky and chain pickerel are members of the same genus – Esox – but are each a different species. Coloration can vary depending on the location, but Northern pike have lighter spots running down their sides, musky have darker vertical stripes, which can fade on the bigger fish. Chain pickerel look similar to northerns except their markings are more “chain-like” and tend to be darker relative to the background color.

muskies are pretty dark with not much of a pattern to them. they are the biggest of the esox family, I think. northern pike can be dark brown, yellowish, red, or almost black. they always have light colored spots on this background. a chain pickerel is green in color, with a black chain like pattern on the side. hence the name chain pickerel. another unique thing about the chain is the black stripe that runs from its eye to the bottom of its head.

Pike typically have light green spots on a dark green background, whereas muskies have dark spots on a light background.

Basically sub species of the same fish. Sort of the variance in Deer White Tail, Mule Deer. One thing interesting about them is how you have to faille Pike. They have a Y shaped bones that when properly done yields six long failles out of a fish.

Walleye are member of the perch family. Not proper pike. Lots of illustrations can be found on the internet.

    The size of the teeth.
I am not an expert, but I believe they are all from the Pike family, also including the walleye.
Chain pickerel are long and slender. Muskies will grow the biggest, and are usually released. Walleye, also called eyes because of the brilliant eyes they have are the best table fair.
I think it is female Muskey and male Northerns that will mate and produce a Tiger Muskey but it will be sterile.

Habben97 reminded me to ask yall: What are the main differences between muskies, pike, and chain pick? I (bein from Dixie) have never seen any yet, but I know that they are all closely related. So, how would I know which I was looking at?
