The guy that runs my local fly shop tells me that he is having problems with supply because the Chinese fly tiers are on strike. What has become of communism that they now tolerate labor strikes? Maybe American capitalism is winning their hearts and minds. So now I must decide between fly tying and fly fishing, and the streams are just perfect. Any suggestions besides leaving less flies on tree limbs?

Dave, buy on-line. Lots of potential to buy US or even local that way. And the flies are usually a thousand percent better than the Chinese crap. My experience anyway.

Good fishing to ya. I still haven't been out yet. Hard to believe. But I have a new baby to help with and a whole bunch of stuff has blown up in the multiple litigation matters involving my wife's death, her estate, and my son's death. Would MUCH rather be fishing than dealing with that garbage. Of course, I'm not talking about little Parker. He is a lovely little squirt and lots of fun, even when he's fussy. It's granddad's job to dance him around the living room and soothe his irritability when he's cranky (now where does he get that nasty attribute!). At least he's helping keep my weight down while my fishing rods are gathering dust!

I tie most of my own flies. Have never had much luck with flies from China or Sri Lanka.

China is going through growing pains. Too much disparity between the rich and the poor. Wages are going up.
