I just got a new spinning reel and was wondering what line I should put on it for bass fishing?

You can use a lot of different lines, but a good starting line would be an inexpensive good soft mono by Stren, Trilene, or Sufix in the 6 to 12# range depending on the size fish you are targeting. Caution do not overfill the spool and wind the new line on letting it fold off the side of the new line spool. Just lay the new line spool down flat on the floor and let the line fold off the side while winding on the reel. If the reel winds clockwise, then let the line feed off the new spool counter-clockwise, or vice versa.

I like very limp and long casting line, yet something that has very good knot strength. The lighter you go, the better casting you will get. The problem is that your line must be heavy enough to pull a lunker out of the weeds on occassion. I use 10 lb Trilene XL myself but suggest you try any of those mentioned by Santa to see what you like. All good lines.
