Check the water temp in your lake, PreSpawn temps range from 45-55 degrees and bass can usually be found in the warm corner of the lake, generally the NW corner but is all depending on water depth. From 55-65 degrees bass will start to spawn, usually on the colder side of the figure in the northern part of the country. Crank baits work well in prespawn while egg predators such as frogs and salamanders work while during the spawning stage. Salamanders being my ultimate favorite rig to throw at a bass. I hope this helps. Good luck and happy fishing. I apologize if this posts twice but I am forced to hit submit again due to this wonderful website.
