    Late spring and summer.

You should have one tied on anytime you can wear a short sleeve shirt on the water. Sometimes later into the fall also.

Now and all of summer. If you want to try topwater for huge brown trout, try early fall with a tiny jitterbug.

Like the others said late spring into fall. I have best luck when the water is like glass to get more of the sound and ripples affects.

Agree that now thru the end of summer is the best time to tie on a topwater lure. Don't worry if bass don't appear to be very active at the surface. Many times seeing a topwater lure above them will entice a strike when nothing else will.

Buzzbaits anytime after the water gets above about 55 degrees. We were catching northerns on a buzzbait this weekend for fishing opener in MN in 56 degree water. Froggies start a little later after there is a bit more body to the lily pads. Floating Rapalas work anytime the water isn't frozen. Topwater rules!

When the Bass are spawning from late spring to summer. You can just flip your bait over the nest and WHAM!!! you have a bass on your line.
