    Largemouth or Small mouth?

  • #2
Small mouth are not distributed as widely as big mouth. You can locate big mouth in Mexico, Canada, South America, and in the lower 48 without any problems. Not so with small mouth, but where you can catch them, they are are very good eating and fun to catch.

WOW for Maine that is a BIG Large mouth. You can see (not easily) the lateral line and the eyes are not RED. I catch a lot of river smalls and that doesn’t quite look like them. My vote is Bucket Mouth.

Congrats!!! Good job. On your own lure too. Exceptional. You ought to be very proud of yourself for carving that plug. Don’t let it get away from you, Put it in a a safe place where it won’t be lost or stolen (friend had his tackle stolen from the back of his truck at a gas station). Make sure you leave it for your grandkids. It will return many memories a long time from now.

Smallmouth! I've fished for largemouth for quite awhile, while still fun to hook into a lunker, you just can't beat the fight of the smallmouth. I spend every weekend in the summer early morning getting my fix on a local river chasing smallmouth and this year went largemouth fishing once. I've came to the realization that when I'm older and can't walk the river anymore I can go back to the easier largemouth.

Living near the kalamazoo river I have to say I can always tell the difference when I hook into a smallmouth instead of a largemouth. I caught a 16inch smallie that fought just as much as a 21inch largemouth. Smallmouth are more fun but theres something about largemouth
