I just posted a photo of a boatload of lunkers in the bottom of my canoe. Any guesses on their weight?

I didn't say they were fish. Just lunkers. Those boulders put up a helluva fight. Not quite enough balast though. Sure is a lovely lake for canoeing.
Question (a genuine one): Why should there always be two paddles in every canoe no matter how many people are in it? (Note that I'm paddling with my late wife's canoe while mine is laying in the bow)

Two paddles are always required in a canoe no matter how many people are in it. All too often, as I indeed experienced just the other night when I had to make a desperate lunge to keep my pole from being yanked overboard by a lunker walleye, one paddle falls overboard. Without a second paddle you have no hope of controlling the craft, let alone retrieving the lost paddle. This can be especially critical on rough water or in white water situations. In the photo in my profile you'll notice the second paddle lying in the bow. Fortunately, the only thing I lost in the above incident was the walleye. He was a nice one though!
Rocky: Twelve pounds each maybe.
