What are some downsides of using a baitcaster, as opposed to spinning reels?

Baitcasters tend to tangle up and they do take time to get the hang off. Baitcasters are better for your heavier baits like spinners and big jigs but for the money a good spinning reel can do everything you need and it much easier

Takes time to master the baitcaster, but once you do, it's the most versatile reel I own.

Spinning reels are very easy to use compared to the baitcasting reel. From what I've seen, spinning reels are less expensive the baitcaster reels.

spinning reels-user friendly, you can cast under stuff[trees, peers etc]side casts.baitcast are fun to use once you get used to using them. baitcast are like winches once you catch a fish. no backlashes with spinning reels.

Baitcasters do baklash easily if you are nor used to them but they can hold alot more line.

Baitcasters are a lot harder to handle... the spinning reels are a lot more user friendly.

Spin casting reels cast further than bait casters that is the only advantage that spin casters have over bait casters.

The lure control when fishing up by logs or anything else seems to have a little more control then trying to pitch a worm into some underbrush or a log on the side of the shore.

A lot more backlashes. Also, the lure doesn't travel as far because of the friction of the spool, where the line on the spinning reel comes off freely. But baitcasters usually are more accurate and popular.

A spinning rod will allow you to use very light and very heavy baits/weights with less practice that baitcaster. The technique of skipping a bait under a dock is much more easily learned with a spinning reel. With a baitcaster though you don't have to worry about line twists that will eventually come with a spinning reel.
