    what is a carolina rig?

  • #2
A carolina rig is a lizard with a bullet weight on the line. A Texas rig is with a weight about 12 inches higher than the lizard. I'm pretty sure I'm right, someone correct me if I'm not.

Ehh you're a little off.. A Carolina rig is a worm/minnow (any bait) on a hook tied to a leader that is from about 12 inches to however long you want. At the end of the leader (opposite end of the bait), the leader is tied to a swivel. Above the swivel is a bead and above the bead is a bullet weight. The primary purpose of the bead is to make noise as it clanks against the bullet weight, which can attract bass. But, it also serves to protect the knot tied onto the swivel. There's plenty of sights that can help you out with a visual.

Taylor3535's explanation of the carolina rig is right on. It takes a little time to get the hang of it but it is a very good way to fish. I fish it mostly in the summertime to catch bass holding on dropoffs at the ends of points.

Taylor had a good enough explanation and rabbit had the rest.
