What is your opinion on fishing for bass while they are on bed? Should you keep fishing or let them be for a while.

if your just fishin for fun cause it might put to much stress of the fish and she might spit some of the eggs out during the fight but if its for a tournament, catch them anyway.

It's a blast, and I don't believe it disturbs their nesting too much. I usually release any big females I catch in the shallow's in springtime. I caught what I believe was the same bass 3 times last spring from the same exact spot over a 2 week period, so I don't think I was disturbing her that much, because she kept returning to her nest, and guarding it aggressively.

I don't mess with Bass while they're on their beds. Too many other fish in the lake to fish for!

I do not fish for them when they are on beds. Just a personal choice. I fish for northerns, walleye or panfish during that time period. MN has a late bass opener (May 23rd this year) in an effort to protect spawning fish. I never keep bass anyway so I use the spawn to stock the freezer with other species.

I have wondered that same thing myself but I've talked to the game wardens and they said if the state fisheries biologists say it's ok then go for it. We fish, our game dept studies it.
