where do you find largemouth bass now in northern states like WI

In Michigan, largemouth bass can be found on the out of season list until at least the last Saturday in April, when special catch and release seasons open on some waters. Regular season openings depend on the specific waters.

deep water, old river channels. When the spawn starts to kick in they will move to the shallows and are easier to catch.

Until the water hits about 50 deg. They will be staging at the edge of the first drop off from shallow water. After the water warms they will move shallow into the warmest water they can find. Usually the north end of lakes or in shallow water with dark bottom. Also around wood or rocks that help the water warm up. An area with a combination of these factors will almost always hold bass this time of year. These are pre spawn bass and they are hungry.
If cold fronts come through they will move back off into deeper water. Anthing that makes the water colder will turn them off or send them deeper. Anything that makes it warmer will turn them on. No need to go out early in the AM, the bite often doesn't turn on till later in the day. Happy fishing!

Chuckles is correct. The water is 50 degrees in Ohio and the fish are at the edge of the shallows. North end of a lake is best or look for shallow water with a dark bottom.

I just went fishing today I live in central wisconsin and the water temp. still isn't right they are not moving they sit on the bottom and unless you can see them in the water and put a bait in front of them they won't chase. Like today we had no success but it was still fun being back out in the boat again I've been fishing walleye off shore on the river.

Caught a bass today, 46 degree water, they were in shallow at 2 feet.
I only found the one group though, fished the rest of the shallows and only saw a few crappie.
