Largemouth are a feel-good fish; they're easy to catch and have a fun fight. But my 7-year-old daughter catches largemouth. I find more enjoyment in the more refined, timid smallies. The challenge and the fight are better to me.

largemouth because it seems I can catch them on accident when fishing for bluegill, they often will hit my hook and worm.

Pound for pound, bronzebacks win. But I'll take an 8 pound largemouth over a 6 pound smallmouth.

Smallies, they fight with a little more intensity.

I love a largemouth, but smallmouths are a little more infrequent, making them a little more appreciated.
