Lanier and Hartwell are the most famous. Chatuge is a good lake, used to be a good smallmouth lake but some dip sticks brought in spots from Lanier. Now it is a good spot/largmouth Lake.

Try Lake Wateree, Lake Murray and Santee Cooper in SC.

Lake Lanier Ga is good for bass fishing. Lanier is stalked with stripers, spotted bass (Kentucky bass) and Large mouth. There are not as many large mouth as there used to be because the drought has brought the lake level down for so long the large mouth have few places to spawn. Lake Hartwell is also a good bass fishing lake but it is in worse shape than Lanier as far as levels go. There are a few other lakes in North GA but I don't know about the fishing in them.
