what style and size of hook would you use for trotlining or limb lining

Depends on what size fish you are looking to catch. When I trotline or jugline I use 10/0, but I am going after big catfish.

I've caught good numbers of fish with circle hooks and heavy gauge catfish hooks. I've even used light 4 - 7 hooks rigged with live/dead minnows and small live perch. These won't hold 15 pounders or bigger. For bigger fish use size 6 to 10. I use the size 4 - 7 hooks, then every 5 or so I'll tie on a 7-10 with a larger bait for the big uns. Try some circle hooks, you'll be surprised how good they catch fish.

5/0 or 6/0, at least, used with live bait. If a fish is too small to hook itself on a 5/0, he is too small to eat.
