Do you have some nice cover for the bass?
If so, I would try something like a Tequila Sunrise worm with a split shot set high so the worm falls slow. Give'er the ol' twitch-n-sit. Thats what I would do. Bass are still pretty slow now and arent ready for a big chase.

Oddly enough when I went to NC last year at this time to visit family we used 1/16 ounce jig heads with curly tail grubs on them. We then slowly twitched it around cover and along the shore

you need to start using top water baits, then in the summer you use crank baits

I love a spinnerbait. The versatility is amazing. You can fish it right on the bottom or bubbling the surface almost like a topwater. You can use a stop and go retrieve, a slow roll or you can absolutely burn it. If I could only take one lure, that would be it.

A few said spinnerbaits a few said jigs. Try the chatterbait. You have the best of both worlds.
