I know your going for bass, but what technique are you planning, also do you prefer spinning or casting, or flies? Another thing is price range, how much do you want to spend?
Really vague question, too many answers. I myself prefer a fly rod, sometimes I fit a small spinning reel to it to troll small bass buzz baits, other times I use a 6 Wt fly line and poppers.

I think Matt is right you really need to know your technique first. But for a general rod I would buy an ugly stick 7 foot medium/light action. This is pretty good for alot of techniques and can be used for other species.

I wouldn’t spend that much on a 10/22 but I might on a bolt gun. For that kind of money I expect some style to go with it, of the Cooper or Annie level....

Would you spend $900 for a Ruger 10/22 to shoot 300yds ? A little over 1" at 100 and a little 0ver 6" at 300yds. Lapua and SK ammo used....
